Twelve Kiroshi Fellows from eight countries begin their year

The 2026 to 2027 fellows started in April in Tokyo, Nairobi and Lalitpur. As agreed with each of them, we announce them at the end of their first quarter.

Twelve eye surgeons and low vision specialists from Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, the Philippines, Tanzania, Uganda and Viet Nam began their fellowship year in April 2026. Five are working in Tokyo, four in Nairobi and three in Lalitpur.

Two of the places are again in low vision rehabilitation. The rest are in cataract, paediatric, corneal, vitreoretinal and glaucoma surgery. Each fellow returns in March 2027 to a post their home institution committed to before the fellowship began.

The 2027 to 2028 call closes on 12 February 2027. The fellows are listed on the fellowships page.
