The Foundation has opened its 2027 call for grants to implant aftercare clinics. Clinics and hospitals that offer, or will offer, free aftercare to wearers of any make of optical implant can apply for up to ¥60 million over three years.
Aftercare clinics give wearers somewhere to have their device checked, cleaned, charged and updated by someone who is not selling them a replacement, and report what they find to the Independent Implant Register. The Foundation funds fourteen today. This call aims to fund between four and six more, with priority for places where wearers currently have no independent service within a day’s travel.
Clinics funded under the call must serve wearers of every make, conform to the KF-OS 1 service interface where devices allow, and report adverse events to the Register. They may not sell implants.
Outlines of two pages are due by 17:00 Japan time on 11 December 2026. Details are on the grants page.
